GE in Eagles Training Camp


But nobody made a bigger impression than Moorestown High School graduate Dereck Faulkner.

The undrafted rookie wide receiver may be a dicey bet to make the Eagles' final 53-man roster, but he walked up to his first NFL training camp with style, in shiny gold work boots with fat purple laces.

"They're fraternity boots," said Faulkner, who explained that he joined Omega Psi Phi at Hampton two years ago. "Omegas like to say we travel 500 miles in these boots, and that's what it symbolizes to me.

"It shows a lot of hard work, and that the men that went in front of me did a lot of hard work to pave the way for me."

Faulkner's attitude may come in handy over the next few weeks, as the Eagles conduct camp for the 12th year at Lehigh. Rookies and selected veterans -- including starting quarterback Donovan McNabb -- reported Friday with the entire squad due by Monday
