Goldboot's Facebook Interview Monmouth Scots Troy Butler

Troy Butler September 20 at 6:26pm
Goldboot's Facebook Interview with Senior Troy Butler

Troy graduated from Camden Academy Charter High School and played Football for Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden New Jersey,

During Troy's rare breaks from academics and football, he enjoys spending time with his family, and kickin’ the Beach Bruhz.

Entering your last season on the gridiron for the Monmouth Scots as defensive back tell us how you are doing ,

GB: If there is one thing you could change about yourself what would it be?
TB: I would change my view on reading, I don’t like to read, my mother love to read. I wish I got that trait from her

GB: What would be the perfect Pre Game meal?
TB: grilled BBQ chicken breast with blue cheese on the side, mashed potatoes, fresh garden salads, with French dressing, fresh cut pineapples, and a sports drink.

GB: If you could watch any college game day what would it be?
TB: the replay of a game that I just played in

GB: What was your most embarrassing Football moment?
TB: should not be telling you this, but it was in high school, night game at timber creek high, start of the 3rd quarter, I had to use the bathroom, #2. Ran off the field coaches thought I was hurt, I told them no I have to use the bathroom. So I had to run all the way inside use the bathroom then run back out. On my way out coach sent someone to find me but I was already on my way back to the field. They called a time out to try and waste time, I played DE and OT both ways and my back up was not getting the job down. I got back by the end of the time out, and we won the game

GB: If you could retire today what would you do with the rest of your life?
TB: coach high school ball in an urban city. I want to help the black youth, and travel on the off season

GB: What Bruhz do you look up to and why?
TB: have to start with the founder, without them I would not be a Man of Omega, 2nd would be William G Anderson, one of my chapter brothers. He is a man that worked for society as a teacher uplifting the youth and also works for the frat and big advocate for the young brothers at Monmouth University, another reason why I am an Omega Man today. 3rd Terik Tidwell, another brother who works hard for the frat and in life.

GB: What is your pre game ritual or warm up?
TB: listen to music, then this year the last song I listen to before it is time to go out is Dog got E, by Kevin McCall

GB: Where do you see yourself in 8 years?
TB: a member of the NJ state police, heavily active in my fraternity, and thoughts of starting a family

GB: Besides football, what is something else you have passion for?
TB: collecting Monopoly board games,

GB: What is your favorite TV show or pastime?
TB: House

GB: If you could describe yourself in one word what would it be?
TB: unselfish

GB: What are you looking forward to the most this year besides graduation?
TB: working to start An undergrad chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity Inc at Monmouth U

GB: What made you choose Monmouth over all the programs that were recruiting you?
TB: good school, winning program, and gave me the most money

GB: What is your favorite part about game day?
TB: the fact that I get to hit ppl

GB: What is your favorite tradition?
TB: Christmas dinner at my house, time when the entire family comes together

GB: What is your major and what do you plan on doing after graduation assuming that you don’t go to the NFL?
TB: I am a criminal justice major; my main goal is to one day get a federal job in law enforcement

GB: Describe a perfect day.
TB: any day that the Lord blesses me to wake up. What I would do on that day? Spend time with my family and friends: talk, eat, play cards, and just have fun

GB: How important is it to give back to the community and what you would plan to do?
TB: giving back is what my life is bases off of, my grandmother told me to always be a leader. Do well in school so my younger cousins can see what good can come from doing well in school. I have taken that thought and applied it to life, I work hard in my life to show the children in my community what they can do if they just work for it. I come from Camden just like them and my family is med to low class just like most of the families in Camden. I also know people wit worst stories then I and they made their way out of Camden and did something positive with their life.

Omega Weekend NYC 2009 *Recession Proof Pricing* Why Pay More??? DEADLINE 7/21!!!!

All-

It's time for everyone's favorite weekend of summer! The countdown has
begun and in less than a month, NYC Omega Weekend will be here. The
boatride is Aug. 7th and we're bringing the Drip back on the 8th at the
frat house (sorry, the Y is no longer an option). The original Cruise
with the Ques is back as the Mighty Empire of Erotic Epsilon Chapter,
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. continues in it's celebration of 90 years
of doing what we do best.

Every year we tell folks to get their tickets in advance. Every year,
people wait till the pier and scramble to get a ticket on the night of.
Well, this year we're switching it up.

For a limited time (till 7/21) a LIMITED number of boat ride tickets
will be available for a special "throwback" price of $35. Yup. $35. Yes,
we are still having food on the boat. Of course we will have the best
DJs and tunes on the boat. (no, we are not having it on a paddle boat.
LOL). This is something special we are doing to say "THANK YOU" to all
those who have supported us through the years.

So tell a friend to tell a friend. These tickets will not last at this
price! I've been on SEVERAL other boat rides and, no disrespect, you
won't get what you get partying with them when you party with the NYC
Ques...and you damn sure won't get it for $35!

So get your tickets now and tell all your friends to get theirs, too. It
may be a recession but we can still have a good time!

Visit www.epsilonchapter.org to
purchase tickets via pay pal.

Tom Mayfield Sr

The Tom Mayfield Sr. Scholarship Breakfast is Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 8AM at the Ramblewood Country Club in Mt. Laurel.

Contact Bro. Guy Williams guy.williams@ibx.com for ticket information.

For decades the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II were largely ignored and denegrated despite official desegration of the U.S. military in 1948.

But eventually, starting in the 1980s, the recognition and honors began rolling in at national and local levels.

Retired Lt. Col. Thomas Mayfield of Willingboro flew Tuskegee fighter planes escorting U.S. bombers over Europe.

“It’s always a great day when we can honor the Tuskegee Airmen and all our veterans who persevered to protect our freedom.

Mayfield, a West Virginia native, has called Willingboro home since retiring from the Air Force in 1971. He later worked 15 years as a special ed teacher in Pemberton.

Mayfield came lives with his wife Barbara.

“I was in my third year of college when some of my friends said we should enlist, so I went with them,” he said. “Later that day, I decided I didn’t want to go, but the recruiting officer said I had signed the papers and that was that.” By 10 p.m. he was on a train heading for Ohio.

Mayfield tells stories about the harassment and discrimination they endured, and how the Tuskegee Airmen had to fight for the right to serve and even die.

“Perseverance got us through,” Mayfield said. “We stuck together. Otherwise, we’d never have made it.

Honoring the second chapter in the Mighty Second District
on their 90th year of service

The Birth of "Mighty" Epsilon Chapter

Founded: April 18, 1919

In 1919, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity bestowed upon New York City, her fifth chapter. On April 18, 1919, at the home of Brother A. Merral Willis, located at 24 W. 140th Street, nine Omega man gathered, and chartered the "Mighty" Epsilon chapter. Epsilon Chapter was organized for students attending Columbia University, New York University, City College of New York, and other institutions of higher learning in New York City. The charter members of Epsilon Chapter were Brothers A. Merral Willis, (charter member of Beta Chapter), Raymond George Robinson (7th Grand Basileus and charter member of Beta Chapter), Hastings E. Tompkins (Beta Chapter '16), John Gordon Dingle (Alpha Chapter '13), James Burnett Ford (Alpha '12), Osceola E. McKaine (Des Moines, Iowa War Chapter '16/Gamma Chapter '17), Henry M. Marlowe (charter member of Beta Chapter), W.P. Stanley (Beta Fall '14), and J. Herd Huddleson.

With the foundation in place, the brothers now had to select the men who would lead her in the right direction. Epsilon's first officers were Brothers A. Mrral Willis, Basileus, Osceola E. McKaine, Keeper of Records, J. Herd Huddleson, Keeper of Seals, and Hastings E. Tompkins, Chaplain. These were the first of many loyal sons of Omega who would lead Epsilon Chapter.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.'s Harlem-based Xi Phi 's Winetaste and Aromatherapy Event

j425c@msn.com
Omega Masseuses Invade Harlem - Again! Friday, 15 August 2008

NEW YORK CITY - It's happening again. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.'s Harlem-based Xi Phi Chapter is back and needless to say better than ever; the Gentlemen of Xi Phi Chapter will again provide fun in the form of massage services for its Female fan base, a cost-effective medium for its now-legendary urban professional following to meet and congregate and this time out, $10.00 advance tickets for its Male supporters. That's right; this quarter's Winetaste and Aromatherapy Event (the eighth of its kind since its inception in 2005) will invite their gentlemen supporters for $10.00 in advance up to the day before the actual event (tickets will revert to the Chapter's favored (and still inexpensive for N.Y.C.)) $20.00 cost on the day of the event.

As always, the Men of Xi Phi Chapter will delight their crowd with hand and foot massages for the Ladies; this time out at Stop One Two Five (3143 Broadway at LaSalle Street in Harlem), as Xi Phi Chapter is known for supporting its home-area businesses; the bistro has a backyard area and will support dancing for the guests on the evening of Friday, 15 August, starting at 10:00pm. As well, big city disc jockey Anthony (D.J. Tony Love) Smalls will reprise his role for Xi Phi Chapter as music maestro for the evening. Chapter President Jeffrey Covington relates that the City residents and the Chapter's supporters appreciate what the Chapter brings to the landscape and the community benefits from the support as all proceeds are used for the Chapter's community service programs.

Don't miss out on having a great time, meeting great people (or getting a great massage) for next to nothing; contact Jeffrey Covington at either (347) 581-5632, (718) 398-7903 (or either Charles Johnson, Jr. ((646) 271-3997), Herbert Thomas, III (845) 300-1226) or Alan Grantham, Jr. (610) 209-7728)) for your tickets soon; we're sure that getting them will be at a premium.
